 NTT Communications has launched a demonstration experiment in Shizuoka Prefecture to reduce traffic accidents by using smart road lights. With the cooperation of Susono City, They will verify the effectiveness of the system in preventing vehicle slips and pedestrian falls. The road lamps are equipped with an edge AI camera, environmental sensors, and a road surface rendering device. Data from the edge AI camera and environmental sensors mounted on the smart road lamps will be collected, accumulated, and analyzed via mobile communications. In addition to contributing to the prevention and reduction of traffic accidents, this road light is expected to save labor in the constant monitoring of road light failure and non-lighting.
